Speaker bio:

Ravindra Kempaiah is a Founder of Zen Electric Bikes. He has deep interest in Energy storage technologies, sustainable transport, 2D materials, plasmonics, and liquid crystals.
He completed his first MSc at the University of Waterloo and worked on various aspects of Graphene. His 2nd MSc degree involved research on liquid crystals and plasmonic materials.
Proficient in characterization techniques like Lithography, SEM, TEM, AFM, UV-Vis, TEM and Micro-structural analysis.

Zen Electric Bikes is a North-American E-bike enterprise headquartered in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Goal is to build high-quality E-bikes to enable the growth of electrified transportation in North America. E-bikes are the future, as one of the most efficient and environmentally-friendly modes of transport. Whether it is recreational, adventure or commuting, E-bikes are the answer.

Mission: Produce high quality, net-zero alternatives for urban transportation and energy storage products using cutting-edge battery technologies.

Keynote description:
Ravi Kempaiah is the founder of Zen Electric Bikes, in Halifax, Canada. Ravi holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Battery Materials and is an avid E-bike rider. From 2016 until 2022, he held the Guinness World Record for the longest journey on an electric bike. In this presentation, Ravi will talk about the current status of E-bike batteries, some of the challenges the industry is facing, and what the future might hold for E-bike battery technology.
