As a PhD student, Maël Bosson–now main owner and founder of eBikeLabs–used to build his own e-bikes as a hobby. He was convinced that e-bikes are much more convenient than cars for short distance travel in and around crowded cities. Living in Grenoble, in the French Alps, Maël also built e-bikes capable of working on steep roads. He then quickly realized that the main way to build a sustainable e-bike is to focus on the vehicle controller, i.e. the component that controls the drive system (motor, sensors, and other electrical elements).
Shortly after finishing his PhD, and setting up eBikeLabs, Maël met like-minded people and assembled a team that started working towards their goal: making e-bikes accessible to everyone to improve lives in our communities and make a positive impact on the environment and health.
eBikeLabs is a Grenoble-based start-up founded in 2015 that has developed technologies in response to these challenges relying on the strong software and electronics DNA of its ecosystem. The challenge now is to achieve a massive deployment of eBikeLabs solutions for a global mobility impact.
With their AI powered firmware, they help shared and retail e-bike designers all over the world to transform a recreational vehicle –the bike– into a mobility solution. They let them take control of their designs, while making their controller intelligent and upgradable. They accelerate the transition of urban transportation to more sustainable modes.
